Before Training: Prepare with Purpose (and Protein)
Every great session starts before you even step on the mats. Having a goal going into class - like tightening up your guard passing or working on a particular sweep - helps you train with focus and intent.
But the prep doesn’t stop there. Your body needs the right fuel. Eating a balanced, high-protein meal or snack a few hours before training gives your muscles the energy to perform and recover. Think chicken, eggs, tofu, Greek yogurt or a protein shake. Staying hydrated is also super important. Make sure to drink water throughout the day and not just during class.
Want to take it to the next level? Supplements like creatine can support recovery and endurance, especially if you're training multiple times a week. Just be consistent and pair it with proper hydration.
And of course - make sure you’ve got the right gear. Wearing comfortable, breathable, and durable BJJ rash guards and shorts that stay in place - and eliminate distractions - so you can focus on the fun bits. Our Easy Life rash guards and shorts are designed to keep up with your hardest sessions.

During Training: Flow with Creativity
When class starts make sure to focus on the details and drill with intention, but when it’s time to roll, let the fun begin!
Jiu Jitsu is about exploring your own game, getting creative, and learning from every roll. It’s not about perfection - it’s about trying new things, experimenting with moves, and having fun with the process.
Focussing on the fundamentals or seen something cool on youtube you want to try? Go for it! At Easy Life Jiu Jitsu Club, we believe in pushing boundaries, not just for ourselves, but for our training partners too. Helping each other grow through creativity on the mats makes the journey even more rewarding.
Jiu Jitsu is as much about expression and having fun as it is about your skill level.

After Training: Recover Like You Mean It
Training might be over, but your body’s still working. That’s where recovery comes in.
Take 5–10 minutes to stretch - especially your hips, back, shoulders, and neck. A consistent post-roll stretch routine keeps your body limber and helps prevent those nagging injuries that sneak up on us grapplers.
Then it’s time to refuel. Within 60 minutes of training, eat a high-protein meal or drink a shake to help rebuild your muscles and replenish your energy. Bonus points for adding carbs to support recovery. Keep hydrating after class, especially if you’re adding creatine to your diet - it works best when you're properly hydrated.
Make sure you get enough sleep! It’s said that your brain locks in new patterns and techniques during a deep rest. So, if you’re serious about improvement, take your rest days seriously.
Want to stay organised? Keep a training journal. Write down what you drilled, what worked during rolling, and what you want to improve next class. It builds a long-term roadmap for growth.
